Streaky Bay to Ceduna (Cont)
Today we did our washing/drying (bah! humbug!) before setting out for a look on the other side****
At Sceale Bay we found layer upon layer of seaweed and kelp on the beachfront. Seagulls seemed to find it perfect for nesting in
This little community also provided us intrepid wanderers with a unique amenities block called
"Camelot"
We travelled on to Point Labatt and the Seal colony of Baird Bay area. Such a wonderful spot and the platform area gives a wonderful view of the whole colony, without intruding or disturbing the seals (Australian Sea Lions here). There were several young with their mums and also a few large males asserting their dominence occasionally to the young teenage males galavanting around and posturing. Quite a funny (if quite raucous) hour spent here.
Gorgeous views they have don't they!
Leaving the sealions, we headed inland a little and came to Murphy's Haystacks:-
These granite monoliths are over 100,000 years old and sand deposits found in their hollows have been dated to around 33,600 years of age.
AND FOR ALL YOU HUNGER GAMES FANS, look what we found wandering amongst the "Haystacks" - Our very own next of Tracker-Jackers! Whoo Hoo and glad we were too that they were very docile today considering we had just been sitting below them :D
We decided tonight to cook up all our potato, pumpkin and carrot into soup since we can't take it into Western Australia and didn't want to find ourselves having to dump it. Having made that great decision, once I got it all cooked up, strained (and broke our strainer in the process), Greg placed the plates on our table with a knife and fork ................. Ah! yes he did.
Then we sat and ate it all up with a nice soup spoon after he ladled it into the bowls he found when the soup wouldn't stay on the plate properly!!!!!
