CEDUNA to PORT AUGUSTA

Tuesday, 31st July 2012

Today we travelled from Ceduna to Port Augusta, stopping in Kimba for lunch.  Kimba is "half way across Australia" and a pretty, clean and neat little town.

The Kimba Hotel/Motel, an old building restored wonderfully and our luncheon venue!

This beautiful tree is one of our Eucalypts, but not sure which one.  Hopefully I will be able to find out because the flowers and gum nuts are spectacular as is the bark which I have never seen before.  It almost appears to be peeling away like peeling skin, leaving a magnificent red trunk beneath.

Nearly left these cheeky guys out accidently.  They came visiting each day, morning and evening to see what was on offer.
If nothing was, they certainly had no qualms in letting us know that they would like to share whatever it was we were having !!!!!!

Along the way, we definitately noticed a marked difference in the scenery from our last trip across this way.  With the little rain they have had, the area has become lush looking and the crops are all standing up waiting for harvest.  A truly amazing sight after seeing such barren looking country only a few weeks ago.  Acres upon acres of cropping around this area.

Well, tonight we are in Port Augusta and tomorrow I hope to go for a look at the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden, just up the road from where we are staying.  (Maybe I'll get an answer to that eucalypt too!)
....................  Well, goodnight all and sleep tight with sweet dreams xoxo
