1st July 2012
After brekky we packed up and left Cervantes and headed north to Dongarra/Port Denison. Along the way we stopped in at a few little beach holiday spots which were really cute and secluded.
Greenhead (25 kms north of Jurien Bay) was one of these nice spots as you can see below.
Greenhead is a lovely little community, unspoilt by rapid development and it's main sources of income are from cray fishing and tourism.
See the large rock that has broken away on the point?
Well, there are some signs here and there that warn people of this phenomonen, but as you will see in the next photo, not everyone takes much notice of the signs!
Notice the hole below and to the left of this guy!
Lots of little coves like this along this part of the coast offer safe swimming and snorkelling
There is swimming/snorkelling etc at Dynamite Bay, South Bay, Pebble Beach and some of the best wind surfing/sail boarding can be had at a spot called Little Anchorage Bay.
The Stockyard Gully Reserve has some intriguing caves to the north-ease of Greenhead, but as we had the caravan hooked on, we had nowhere to un-hook and leave it to travel the 4WD track in to have a look unfortunately.
Not sure if full time cray workers, or seasonal/holidayers.
The Irwin River at Dongara DONGARA/PORT DENISON HARBOUR |
I reckon I could love this boat :) |
Oh! if only I had that Nikon, tripod & a slow shutter! But still happy with these pics - It was a beautiful evening
|
These gorgeous old fig trees lined the main street in the Dongarra town section. Hundreds of years old and amazingly the roots have been trained in the early years not to grow out towards the road.
In GREENOUGH, where the trees are bent and the men are straight! |
Greenough is an outer village on the edge of Geraldton with a Historic Settlement available to view through the Tourist Information & Interpretation Centre, but as we were running short of time coming back from Geraldton, we thought it would not be the best light to see the village in and we may well get locked in for the night *lol*
Well, it's late now and my little bed is calling to me so next time I will bring you up to date with the next few days after here which we will be spending at Kalbarri.
Cheers everyone and sleep tight with sweet dreams ............xoxo

Great Blog Deb. Looks like you guys are having heaps of fun. I'm guessing you would have a few more comments if the we could get past the google test. Lets see.
It looks like you guys are having a great time. You'd probably get a few more comments if it wasn't almost impossible to pass google's security. Anyway, keep posting.
