Little Lagoon is connected to Shark Bay by a narrow and shallow waterway. It is possible to traverse the Lagoon, but one does need to be aware that at the entrance to the lagoon area are a substantial number of stone fish (you remember that ugly critter that only a mother could love - Yep, they're the guys!)
You even get a warning - make sure you accept your own responsibility too!
After checking out the inlet and Little Lagoon, we headed home and had dinner and sleep and next morning's plans were for a boat tour (but it was cancelled due to weather predictions), so we decided to head out along Francois Peron National Park's penninsula for the day tomorrow.
Francois Peron National Park and Monkey Mia
Arriving at the entry to FPNP, we had a look in the interpretive centre, which showed much in the way of local animal life and decline over the years, along with Project Eden's strategic improvements bringing an upsurge in the animal and plant life over the last year or so.
Feral Cats and Foxes have decimated the native animals, but hopefully Project Eden will eventually be able to restablish healthy populations of the local endangered wildlife.
Following the interpretive centre, we left the parking area and came to the air hoses and lowered our tyres. While doing this, we chatted to a german couple who were going to take a Canadian girl (Theresa) with them, but were a bit wary of the sand tracks. We offered her a seat with us and we headed north, finding some lovely places off the main (dirt) track.
Firstly South Gregories -
Then Gregories -
This is Theresa with Greg at Gregories *lol* |
Reaching the top of the penninsula, Cape Peron, we found the sun almost ready to settle for the night and new we would have a dark drive back, so we had a very quick look about and got a few nice shots before heading back along the hour long track to the Interpretive centre to drop Theresa off.
A very nice day and we did sleep well that night as well (fresh air does that to you we've found)
Kinda looks like we were walking in circles doesn't it (We really weren't at all - Greg never gets lost!) |
The next day I was heading off to Monkey Mia and the Pearl Farm and Greg felt he was safer staying away from the Pearl Farm so he decided he would stay in Denham.........
Stay tuned :)
